Sean, thank you so much for the Mt. Bellew website.  What a lovely place and near to all the names that  I have found so far connected to the Mitchell/Fahy family.  

I was right about the land being re-designated.  I hope to find an old map of Garraun Coyle so I can see where no. 8 was (the land/property) that my grandparents owned.  Thank you for land sale website.  Very interesting.

    No. 8 was not the street number, it was just the order the Census forms were handed out.

    If you look at the farm in the 1901 Census it was No. 7.

    When you go onto the Galway mailing list ask them what "Garraun Coyle" means.

    All Townlands were given names that described the area/terrain in Irish/Gaelic.

    This is why you find more than one Townland with the same name sometimes.

    Garraun Coyle would be the anglicized version of the oroginal Gaelic name.
