I am researching the GETTINGS Family.  There are different variations of the spelling of this surname throughout the years, some being GITTINS, GETTINS, I have even found baptismal records under GAYTONS.

My first record for Martin is from the 1851 UK Census record, where his age is recorded as being 23 years of age.  He was boarding with the Timmins Family in Liverpool, Lancashire, England and was a Dock Porter. The first record of Cecilia is from the 1861 UK Census record, where she is listed as being Unmarried with a daughter, Margaret, aged 14 months. She is recorded as being 29 years old. The 1871 UK Census record has them recorded as a family.

Martin's parents, whom I can not find in Ireland, but I know their names from a Marriage Record are Patrick and Mary/Maria. Cecilia's parents, whom I can also not find in Ireland, are Thomas and Bridgit/Brigidae.

If any of these ancestors are in your Tree, I'd like to hear from you.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and did not see any Martin Gettins (and variants) baptismal records back in the 1820s/1830s. I did find a Cecily Spellmans in 1845 in Co. Galway but the parents names were different than what you provided. The age was a little younger than shown on the 1871 census. See below. Likely for both Martin and Cecelia, the churches where they were baptized no longer have records back to their birth year.

Please consider adding their emigration stories to our XO Chronicles site    https://www.irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-dat…

    Have you considered DNA testing?
