Im trying to trace my Father's family Kenny, my dad was called Michael William Kenny and was born in 1932 in Glengoole, (New Birmingham). His parents were Kevin & Mary nee Grant and there had 3 boys and 3 girls.

I would be very grateful to hear anything about them

Kind Regards

Cindy

    We only have access to civil birth records thru 1920 although we do have access to civil marriage records thru 1845. I searched on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie and did not find a Kevin Kenny/Mary Grant civil marriage record. I also searched for all the marriages involving a Kevin from 1925-1932 with no success. I went back to the 1911 census for Glencoole and there were no Kenny families. I also looked for Kevin Kenny/Kenney in the 1911 census and the three that I located were in Dublin.

    Do you have other clues on your family?

    For others, Glencoole (South and North) are in Kilcooly parish Co. Tipperary.

  • Hi Roger

    I'm afraid I dont have much to go on, I have tried looking myself with no success, I was told that my father's birth would have been registered in his local parish church which was Glengoole.

  • I did find a Mary Grant in the 1912 census living in Glengoole, Tipperary aged 18, how would I go about obtaining more information on her, like birth certificate or even marriage certificate.

    I previously looked for Mary grant marriage records to a Kevin Kenny with no success.

    The 1911 census record you located is likely your Mary Grant. There are some questions. Mary is shown as a stepdaughter yet the Margaret Clear nee Flannery was not married before if the 1899 marriage record is accurate. See marriage record below and the birth record for Anastasia which also shows Flannery for Margaret. Maybe Mary was sort of informally adopted? You can search on www.irishgenealogy.ie for possible Mary Grant birth records but I did not find any good leads.

    second record   https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_re…;

    third record Anastasis 1904 https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…
