Alexander Longmoore is my 3rd great grandfather.  According to the Biographical Record of the County of Kent, Ontario, Canada, the family emigrated from Monaghan County, Ireland.  Alexander married Mary Longmore who was the daugther of Robert Longmore.

"JOHN R. LONGMOORE, a farmer of Raleigh township, County of Kent,' upon whom prosperity has smiled, is a grandson of Samuel, and son of Alexander Longrnoore, the latter of whom was born in County Monaghan, Ireland, in 1811, and in 1842 came with his father, four brothers and two sisters to Canada, locating at Kingston, Ontario."

I think this is Alexander Longmoore.  The picture was taken in Kingston, Ontario in the early 1860's.

  • I am also looking for Samuel Longmore/Longmoor Father of Alexander, William, Samuel, Francis Ann and one other daughter - Believe that Damuel was born in Monaghan, County Monaghan, Ireland around 1790. They migrated to Canada in 1842 but I have not been able to find the ship name.  Rick

  • Back again Colleen - Samuel is my great great great grandfather on my fathers side of the family. Alexander was the brother of Francis who is my great great grandfather.  His son Richard was the father of my grandmother Janet Sarah Longmore. Francis married Mary Ann Sterling and his son Richard married Elizabeth Ann Smith.
