Hi,
Thank you very much for your message.
You should be able to find record of Maggie?s birth or marriage certificate in civil records. These are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website: http://www.groireland.ie/research.htm
You can search the indexes to these records up to 1958 online here: https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
For more information on these records and how to obtain them go to: http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Irish-civil-registration.html
You could also try searching online at www.rootsireland.ie, however please note that you have toregister to use this website and pay a fee to view any records.
www.familysearch.org have some church records also available online.
Do you know your grandmother?s year of birth ot the names of her parents? You could try searching for either her or her parents in the 1901/1911 census records: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
Have you tried looking into their emigration? Sometimes more information was given at the point of arrival rather than that of departure. For information on US immigration records check: http://www.archives.gov/research/immigration/
Hopefully some of these websites will give you some information. Once you know where exactly she was born more avenues of research will open up to you.
