Information I have:  Thomas Riley, born 1723 in Ireland...emmigrated in 1746...two sons, John and George (our line comes down from George)...listed on a "Friends Meeting List" in Pennsylvania, USA.  That's all I have for now....sure hope you can help.

  • If they were Quakers in Ireland before they left, I would think that that might be a means of narrowing down the possible origin places, while seeking records of the Society of Friends in Ireland at that time period.

    Otherwise, we would suggest gathering as much as you can on the individuals that you do know in Penn., regards father and both sons, and perhaps even their descendants.

    Within that group, and including other likely relatives recorded in the Monthly Meetings registers for their PA local community, if you are fortunate, you can hope there might be further references to the family and community members' travels and origins.

    Try to build a knowledge base on these individuals, with all you can gather: occupation,apprentiship records, tax rate (class), residences and neighbors. wills/deeds if available. Newspapers, gravestone memorial markers or burials records, etc. The more you can understand and identify your specific people, the better chance you might have in pin-pointing the migration and origin.
