  • Below are two possible birth records for Margaret. Are you aware of any siblings which may be a way to determine the correct record.

Eighth record is a possibility for her civil birth.   https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_retur…

    Second record is another possibility.

  • Thank you Eileen and Roger for your help.

I asked for help back in 2017 and Roger so kindly came up with great info. I could not view the record for Thomas Walsh and Margaret Reddy then. However, I can see it this time. The occupation of "labourer" matches with the occupation of Thomas  on Margaret's marriage records. The Kilcullen record has Thomas as a "farmer." May not be of significance but might be.

No one seems to know of any siblings.

A great grandaughter recorded Margaret's story, as told by Margaret's daughter, and she gave her birthdate as October 12, 1864. We thought it was Oct. 14, 1865.
So, we are not sure but the Second record with Margaret Reddy makes sense as she later worked as a servant in Kildare ...which seems closer than Kilcullen.

She also said she "grew up in the shadows of a castle". Now to figure out if there were any castles  still standing around Monasterevin in late 1800s (?)

    Thanks so much!
