Hello All- I have 2 daughters named Annie and Harper and I am looking for someone who has expertise In early Gaelic. I’d love to see what there names would have looked like in ancient Gaelic. I'm looking to surprise them with a present showing their name either in art or carving.  My family is originally from Clonmany.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks. -Chris

  • The name Annie in the Irish language is Áine while the name Harper is translated as Harpúr although I never heard of the name Harper as a first name growing up, it really only became known when the Beckham's named their child. Áine on the other hand was a popular name .

  • Thank you both. I did mean Ogham and I was able to find that translator site. Big next question is whether I would type in Aine and Harpur which Eileen noted is the correct in the Irish Language versus Annie and Harper. I think from what I've read is that the correct Ogham translation would be from Irish to Ogham? Does that sound about right?

  • Ogham was used thousands of years ago.
    Ann means Grace

    Aine means Radiance.
    Harper/ur  ?
