Hi --
I was lucky to find the marriage records of my great grandparents in County Mayo; the records are preserved in the family's parish church. There is a notation included in one marriage church record: as best as I can decipher, the notation reads "Affinilatis Dispensatur" -- preceded by a note that might read, "Fee 3o el-30". This entire deciphering is my best guess - the handwriting is difficult to read.
This marriage occurred on January 27, 1894 at St. James in Carracastle, Mayo.
Possibly relevant details: my great grandmother was widowed shortly before this marriage, and was pregnant with a fourth child from the union of her first husband.
Please -- any suggestions as to what these notations mean?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts shared. I'll try to add a close-up picture of the notation.
Michael.

Hi Michael
I have just come across your query.
Regarding the notation "Affinilatis Dispensatur" mean in marriage?
A matrimonial dispensation is the relaxation in a particular case of an impediment prohibiting a marriage and was probably due to the fact that your GG Grandmother was married before and was pregnant at the time. Regarding your query "Fee 3o el-30" I don't have any explanation or meaning for this and would need to see an image, and I'm sure someone on this site would be able to decipher.

Thanks, Paul!
I have attached a close-up of the dispensation added to the marital records of my Great Grandmother. It has been suggested that the notation to the left margin possibly references "3rd degree," meaning my Great Grandmother was marrying someone related by three steps ("degrees") to her recently deceased first husband -- such as a cousin. During my research trip to Ireland recently, a descendant to the second marriage of my Great Grandmother opined that the two husbands were not related. I have been trying to decipher what the dispensation means and how to determine whether the two husbands were related and if so, in what manner. Thank you for any thoughts you share!
