Looking for any info about Thomas SHANLEY and his wife Mary MAHON. They were married in Kilbeggan on July 17 1830. In particular their births and parents. Their son Thomas Mahon SHANLEY (bap Oct 24 1845 in Kilbeggan) arrived in South Australia in 1865 where he married and then deserted his family. He moved to Sydney NSW changed his surname to STANLEY married again and died in North Sydney on May 19 1918.

Thanks

Chris

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The RC records for Kilbeggan parish start in 1818 so a baptismal record for Thomas or Mary would not be available if they were baptized in that parish. I searched the subscription site Roots Ireland and there are some Mary Mahon baptismal records around 1810 for other Westmeath parishes but you can't confirm any of these records as the one for your ancestor. There are no Thomas Shanley baptismal records in Westmeath around 1810.

You may know this already but there were some other children who were older siblings of Thomas as follows: John 1831 Patrick 1833 Mary 1834 (likely died young) Mary 1839.

You may want to consider DNA testing.
