Hello, my "Shea" ancestors emigrated from Ireland to NYC, USA. Unfortunately I don't know the year (probably sometime in the 1800's). They had a daughter, Catherine Shea (my grandmother) and possibly a sister. I don't know my granmothers' parents names and all documents are long missing thru generations. All are deceased and there isn't anyone alive to obtain more information. I will be visiting Ireland in May 2014 ( I live in Florida, USA. ) and would like to visit the county/parish of my ancestors if possible. If anyone can offer any information about the SHEA family name I would greatly appreciate your help.

Hello Kathleen,
I have a Cath SHEA who was a sponsor at one of my family's Baptisms in 1852. I have been searching for information about the sponsors at my family baptisms for a good while now.
These Baptisms occurred in the County of Tipperary and around the Youghalarra and also the Silvermines areas. Cath Shea was a sponsor at one of the Youghalarra Baptisms.
If your search for your Sheas leads you to County Tipperary and especially to one of these areas above, I would very much like to hear from you in the future. Please keep me in mind.

Hi Col,
After digging a little deeper thru old historic family documents I found the following: Catherine was born January 5, 1865. Her father was John T Shea, her mother was Mary A Miller. Catherine was born in NY City.
I hope that helps to trace information back to Ireland.

Hi Col,
Just wondering if you were able to find any relavent information regarding my ancestors. Although my grandmother, Catherine, was born in NYC in Jan 1885, I do believe my great-grandfather John T Shea was born in Ireland, and my great-grandmother Mary A Miller was born in Ireland.
Thank you for looking into my family history.
Sincerely, Kathleen
