I am looking for living desendants of Patrick Shea (b-1829). Born near Shannon. First Wife Margaret Kelly. Second wife was Catherine Mullins born 1846. We are planning  trip to Ireland next year and would love to connect with relatives.

  • Do you have any other information? Years? Deaths? Place of marriage to Mullins? Names of any children?

I found this marriage on rootsireland.ie, but without more info I can't say that it is your ancestors.  Note that this Patrick was slightly younger than yours, though ages in records like this are not reliable.

You mentioned Shannon. This Patrick's home place of Sheanagh sounds similar.

  • Margaret:

Looks like your Shea family were from Co. Roscommon. See 1864 civil marriage record for Patrick Shea and Margaret Kelly at the link. Names of fathers of bride and groom are listed. They were married in Roscommon town.

I did not find any baptismal records for children of Patrick and Margaret and did not find a Patrick Shea marriage record to Catherine Mullins,

Did Patrick Shea remain in Ireland?

  • Margaret:

The marriage record that Patricia and I located shows a placename/townland of Sheanagh and I can not find an official townland by that name. Possibly the record is for Sheehaun townland in Kilgefin civil parish.

There were no Shea records in the 1901 census for that area of Co. Roscommon.

Have you considered a DNA test?
