Looking for extended family of John Sleith b.1814 d.1880, his wife Margaret b.1823 d.18883 also William and Agnes Truesdale. The son and daughter of these two couples, David Sleith and Sarah Jane Truesdale married in the Downshire Road Presbyterian Church Newry in 1876 and emigrated to Australia with their two young sons in 1883. Many thanks for any help :)

Debra,
David Sleith & Sarah Jane Trousdale married on 23.11.1874.
Witnesses were James Copeland & Margaret Trousdale.
John Sleith died 15.4.1880 at Carnmeen.
Probate abstract from the PRONI wills site:
Letters of Administration of the personal estate of John Sleith late of Carnmeen County Down Farmer deceased who died 13 April 1880 at same place were granted at Belfast to Margaret Sleith of Carnmeen the Widow. Effects £91.00
Margaret died 11.3.1886 in Rostrevor. Informant was her daughter, Mary Jane Copeland, also of Rostrevor.
Mary Jane Sleith married James Copeland on 8.2.1878:
By 1901 the family were in Belfast:

Daughter Ann Sleith married Robert Mathers on 29.12.1876:
I see several children to that couple:
Female (no name) 28.8.1877
John 8.2.1879
Robert 16.6.1882
James 12.1.1889
Margaret Martha 17.9.1891
All registered in Newry registration area.
I can’t see the family in the 1901 census so they may possibly have left Ireland.
The Truesdale family appear to have been living in Corcreeghy (as per the 1874 marriage certificate), but had gone by 1901:
I see William Truesdale listed in the Valuation Revision records for Corcreeghy. He had plot 2Db which was a farm labourer’s cottage. His name is deleted as tenant in 1886, suggesting he may have died around that time. However I can’t see a death for him or for Agnes in that area, so possibly he had just moved. There was this man (with what is presumably a second wife) in the 1901 census. It might be your family. More research would be needed to find out:

The above William is probably a widower from Sheeptown who married Jane Lawson on 29.10.1889 at Ryans Presbyterian Church. William’s father was William, a farmer.

Thank you so very much Elwyn, you have given me a lot of wonderful information to investigate. I have David and Sarah's marriage and his parents deaths but did not know he had siblings so that is a fantastic lead. Hopefully I can get it all untangled and find some living relatives in time for my visit there in the summer.
Kind regards,
