Another useful website is the IRish TImes where they show you what records are available in each RC parish. For Watergrasshill follow this link:

You could also check for record of the family in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century. There are two:

and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

Have you tried looking into John?s emigration? Sometimes more information can be found in these immigration papers. Also, check any legal documents such as death certs to see if any parents? names are listed.
