Hi, i am trying to trace my GGG Grandfather's parentage. I have extensive information on him, marriage, military record, death etc.

He was Patrick Gorman and, according to his papers on joining the 7th Hussars, was born in St Andrews Parish,Dublin on 14 Jan 1793. He married Sarah Bolwell on 26 May 1819 in Manchester Cathedral before serving in Paris during the occupation after Waterloo. He then started his family at Hounslow barracks and in Aston,Birmingham where he died on 26th Jan 1833. Much more in fo on his military record can be sent if needed and on his family.

I have had no success in finding info for christening/baptism having tried the usual sites,Ancestry,Findmypast etc.

Any help gratefully accepted,

many thanks,

Andy Gorman

  • Hi Andy,

Unfortunately records from before 1800 can be hard to find and sometimes they just do not exist but there are some.

Could not find a baptism for Patrick Gorman but there were other Gorman baptisms in St Andrews that could be related

    Area - DUBLIN (RC) , Parish/Church/Congregation - ST. ANDREW

Baptism of MARIA GORMAN of N/R on N/R N/R 1793

    Try this site http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/index.html

Tip : when searching for older church  records you need to be aware that often the latin names were used, like Patricius for Patrick, Martinus for Martin and so on.

Hope this helps a little bit
