Have you tried looking in civil records for information? Given the dates you have mentioned you should be able to find James? marriage records, birth record and any birth record he may be listed as a parent on in these records, which start in 1864.

Civil records are available from the General Register?s office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can also try looking in Church records for information. Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which you may find helpful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For St. Luke?s civil parish, I think you will need to look at the Catholic parish of St. Nicholas. Here is a link:
