Monumental inscription reads:
Erected in memory of wife Martha died 5 June 1870 age 71. Son James Stewart died 26 Mar 1841 age 7. Above John Stewart died 13 Mar 1884 age 76 and his son Robert died 12 July 1895 age 55. His son William died 16 May 1905 age 67 years and his son Samuel who died 13 Jan 1909 age 74.
In memory of John Stewart Gortherin who died 28 Sep 1921 age 92 and his sister Jane who died Sep 1931 age 91 years.
