My great-grandfather was baptised at St. Finnebar's Chuch, Cork in 1801.  His father is listed in the church records as "Jno Sweetman" of "Wexford Mila".  I have two questions:

1.  What name is "Jno" an abbreviation for?

2.  Where or what is "Wexford Mila"?

Many thanks for any help you might be able to provide to a befuddled American.

  • Robert:

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Jno would be John. Wexford Mila could be Wexford Militia.
