My 3rd great-grandparents were Terene Gaffney and Judith McCabe, married 6 May 1842 in Kilbride & Mountnugent parish.

They baptized 3 children in the same parish:

Mary 1843

Michael 1844 emigrated to USA about 1855, fought in the US Civil War,

Margaret 1847

I can't find a baptism record for Julia, my 2nd great-grand mother, but she was born about 1853 arrived in USA as a child.

 

Any information about the Gaffneys & McCabes will be much appreciated. 

I'll be in county Cavan for a few days after Easter.

  • This Gaffney child was born in 1849...the name is transcribed as Susan, but the actual record is not quite clear to me.

    I noticed on rootsireland that Michael and Mary were baptized in Westmeath, not Cavan.
