i am answering the message that  Sr. de Lourdes Fahy wrote to me.

thank you for answering my query on the mitchell family. i have done the carr family tree as far as i can go. william carrs father was martin carr. i got his and catherines marriage cert. when i was in galway and that is the name of father who was my gr. gr. grandfather. william and catherine was my gr. grandparents. their eldest daughter bridget was my grandmother. i never remember a patrick unless he died young.no one in the family ever talked about him. there was a martin carr. my grandmothers brother that i met many times.

i would like to know catherines family as there seems to be many mitchells in roo area. i hope the gentleman you mentioned can help with that information.

did her brother patrick ever marry and have a family?  it is a shame we can not go back further on census. i have written a message before but i do not think it went.

thanks again, doreen

  • Hello, Sr. de Lourdes, thank you so much for getting back to me. i meant to write before easter but too much to do.

john and william were born before 1851 so i guess that is why they are not on the records. i have not been able to find any of martins 3 daughters. much harder with females in the family. they may have married or emigrated. would love to know but i know it is like looking for a needle in a haystack.lol.

i go to the mormon library here and sometimes it is helpful. one time they pulled up all the names of people that emigrated from gort. it was like 400. i could only see about 200 as they were closing and when i went back the person that was working that day could not find the list. will try again one day soon.

i have not been able to find michael.  grannys brother. i heard he died in chicago at 30 years of age, homeless. i have wrote to chicago but the 2 records she sent me was not him.

a lot of walls to climb. i am working on my dads tree at the moment and it is a very difficult family. the carrs have been so helpful, thank God. i found a big family here of my cousin michael that emigrated in 1904. we keep in contact.

    thanks again. God Bless

    Doreen
