I hope you can help me.
My ancester is Thomas Byrne and his wife Ansty Neill. They married in 1835 in Myshall (Kiltealy?) Wexford.
They had 2 sons John and Patrick. I cannot find their births.
They could have been born in 1838 and 1845. They went to Australia before 1870 but again I cannot match any immigration records as I do not know where they Ireland from. The birth dates are fuzzy as certificates I have from them in Australia vary in ages. Patrick died in 1882 (age 44ish) and John died in 1917 (age 74ish).
Please help me
Thanks

Anne:
Myshall RC parish is actually in Co. Carlow. I was not able to locate the marriage record on the subscription site Roots Ireland. Can you share a copy of the 1835 marriage record? I also did not find the baptismal records for John and Patrick. Thanks!

Dear Roger
Thank you for your swift reply. I have attached copies of what I have including suggested baptisms.
I do not know if the mothers name is Anastacia or Anne or ...??? I have a feeling that it may be Anastacia as Patrick called his daughter Bridget Anastacia.
According to John's Marriage certificate here in Australia, he said his parents came from Kiltealy in Wexford. Perhaps they moved after their marriage?
There are a few in some of the census' I could access, but cannot tell who is the correct one.
It is amazing what I can find here online, but I haven't been to Ireland for many years and with COVD, it will be many more.

Hi Anne!
Sorry for the delayed response. Anastasia is almost always found in Co. Wexford and Anty is a nickname for Anastasia. I have also seen Ann as a nickname for Anastasia.
Kiltealy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiltealy is in Templeshanbo civil parish which is west/northwest Co. Wexford on the border with Co. Carlow. Templeludigan parish where Anty Byrne died is also on the border with Carlow, two parishes south of Templeshanbo.
The 1902 marriage record for John is somewhat confusing. If Anty died in 1871, why wasn't she shown as deceased or did they only indicate deceased for the husband? Does Age 50 refer to Thomas' age at death?

Dear Roger
I may have confused you with my attachments. The only accurate one was John Byrnes' marriage certificate. The age 50 was the age he married. Not accurate either, as I think he changed his age so that it did not look bad when he married an older woman. (Probably not the done thing at the time.) I will attach his death certificate, but it was completed by his illegitimate/adopted son and says he was 74. the age does not jell with his marriage certificate. So you can see my dilemma. I know he was in Molong NSW, where he lived, in 1861. I have a land sale at that date. He was illiterate so signed with an X. His obituary said he came to Australia at age 18, but with his death age incorrect, and dates not matching, I cannot find where he came to Australia. He settled with his brother in Molong. I have hunted for both of them coming together and also separately, but without correct ages, it is impossible. I also do not know what port they left from. The Australian records work on where they landed in Australia. Is there any way you can find the port that they left from?
The marriage between Thomas & Ansty Byrnes seemed to fit the dates and it is an unusual combination of names. I could not find ages for them, so took a guess, not always a good move. The death certificates for both of them were based on my guesses. As they did not bother to register or baptise the 2 boys, John and Patrick, I do not know if any of this is true. So perhaps we start with Thomas and Ansty's births. I can't locate them. If Anastasia was a Wexford name, I will shift my search towards there, but her family name has many variations. There was a witness at their wedding - Hugh Neil - but I can't track him either.
Sorry this seems hard to follow. Everything seems to be guesswork.
Thank you for your help. I hope this further information helps a little.
Kind regards
