Hi,

I have found the birth record for Thomas Cox and Anne Carney's son, James Cox (26 Jan 1867), Elphin, County Roscommon; but cannot find a record of Thomas and Anne's marriage. I have looked in the Civil Records as well as on the RootsIreland paid site, and Ancestry;  but cannot locate anything.  

I thought that the Civil Index for marriages began in 1845, so I am stumped why I cannot locate the reocord.

    Civil registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages started in 1845 but Roman Catholic marriages were not civilly registered until 1864.

    Also, based on the index on the NLI site, there is a large gap in marriages records for Elphin RC parish  https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0556 The gap is from October 1830-March 1864 so if the couple was married in that gap period, no record is available.
