Hello
I am looking for birth information on my 3rd great grandparents. According to census information they were both born in Roscommon and year of births are listed as being around 1822 for Thomas and around 1826 for Mary.
I am unsure if Mary's surname is Ragan or Ragam as both versions appear on birth certificates of their children.
I would be grateful of any help anyone could offer.
Thank you
Julie

Julie:
Finding pre-1850 RC records in Co. Roscommon is difficult because many parishes have records starting 1850 or later. I searched for a Thomas Lally/ Mary Regan (likely spelling in Ireland) marriage with no success. Also, did not locate any baptismal records for children of a Thomas Lally and Mary Regan. Did not find a baptismal record for a Thomas Lally in the 1820s and there are too many Mary Regan records
Any other information? Have you considered DNA testing?

Roger, thank you so much for your efforts.
I believe they had 1 child, Michael, in Ireland around 1845. They show up on a census in England in 1851 without Michael but he is with them in 1861.
I have just had DNA results back with just one possible connection in America. Had hoped for more!

I can't locate a baptismal record for Michael Lally using Thomas as his father and mother Mary Regan.

There is a marriage record in Kiltullagh Parish for a Eugene or Owen Lally and a Mary Regan Date 06 Jan 1845. Eugene was from Dunmore,.Co. Galway Mary from Cloonfad, Co. Roscommon. They are only reorded for two biaptismals 18 Jan 1846 Cloonfad Upper, in Co. Roscommon - Patrick. This Patrick must have died as there is a second Patrick baptised 01 Oct 1848 to the same couple. It is the only record for the surname Lally in Kiltullagh Parish. note, I am only familiar with records from 1840 in Kiltullagh Parish.
