Hi,  I am trying to find out more about Thomas O'Callaghan.  He married Margaret Lee in 1880 and died before 1901.  I believe they lived in Labamologga East  - Margaret (widowed) and her sons are on the 1901 and 1911 census here.  Dog Licence registrations place Thomas here until at least 1887 and Margaret until 1910.

Margaret appears to be buried with the Lee's in Mitchelstown parish church cemetry (d.1919) but I can't find birth/baptism or death records of Thomas or their son's anywhere (I have death record for son Rev. Maurice but thats all).  Suppose I'm just wondering if anybody is familiar with them or has any ideas to help me find them please?

Thomas died September 27 1888. See second record.

The free site www.irishgenealogy.ie  has BMD records starting in 1864. I looked for death records for the sons in the Mitchelstown registration district but did not find any good leads. Did they stay in the area after 1911?

  • Hi Roger.

Thank you so much for finding that for me!  I really appreciate you spending the time to do so.

I know a couple of his sons left the area, one became a priest and moved to the USA but returned to Ireland and was later died in Dublin but was buried in Mitchelstown - I'm yet to find a gravestone though.

Think I will have a look for birth records where you suggested - cheers for the link and info.

I believe three of the four sons joined the priesthood but one or two later left.  I don't suppose you know where I would begin to find info on this do you?

  • Thanks again Roger.  I found birth records for all their children with your link.
