My friend and I are going to be in Cork City in late October and are hoping to travel to Mitchelstown, Fermoy, and Kilworth, to visit the locations of our ancestors. We want to do a one day trip to view churches and buildings and to walk the cemeteries and visit local libraries or other repositories if they exist. We have contacted a couple of companies that we found online and are considering their proposals, but I wondered if anyone had any recommendations for either local drivers who would take us around, or other ideas. Renting a car for the day is an option but not our first choice.
My specific research in Fermoy has led me to Edward Gormly, the workhouse master in the late 1850s.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions you might have.
