Hi,  I found a marriage record for a John Daylor and a Catherine Gorman 4 Feb 1871 in Bantry Parish County Cork in Irishgenealogy.ie.  However I cannot identify the residents/township listed on the record.  My best guess is clashdarigau.  I am pretty sure it starts with CL because another name on the page is Clark and the first two letters seem similar.  Any help from someone who is familiar with townships in Bantry and their various spellings would be greatly appreciated,  Thanks Bob

  • Hi Mariam,  Thanks you for your reply.  I think you might be right about the name Clashdarigan, but I am having trouble finding that address on goggle maps. Could you tell me how you entered the address or could you tell me what township it is near?  Thanks Bob

  • Hi Mariam,  Thanks.  A representative for the Bantry Historical Society explained to me that an area just northeast of Bantry City and now know as Newtown was once called the township of Clashdarigan.  Apparently, that is a little known fact that might be used for future reference. Bob
