My ancestor Daniel McCarthy married MaryAnn Moran at St. Peter's Roman Chatholic Church, Liverpool, Lancashire, 28 Feb 1854 • Their marriage information listed their fathers as Timothy McCarthy, Tin Plate worker, and Patrick Moran, soldier. (Daniel was listed as minor and Tin Plate worker) They were also listed as "Irish" although had adresses on Fontenoy Street in Liverpool. I cannot find any information that gets me back to birthplaces in Ireland. Evidently their first child, MaryAnn McCarthy was born and baptised in Liverpool. I have followed them to Jersey City in New Jersey where the rest of their children were born. Their son Patrick McCarthy born in Jersey City was my grnadfather John's, father. Since I don't have information on birthplace I cannot narrow to Irish County or Parish. Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thank you inadvance, Miriam Eileen McCarthy

Miriam:
More than likely your McCarthys came from Co. Cork. The marriage was in 1854 and Daniel was a minor so under 21. Likely he was born 1833-1836. Co. Cork church records are partially available on the free site www.irishgenealogy.ie (Records for parishes in the Diocese of Cork and Ross). The records for parishes in the Diocese of Cloyne are only available on a subscription site--Roots Ireland, Ancestry, FindMyPast
I have found nine Daniel McCarthy baptismal records with father Timothy McCarthy. You really need to locate his mother's maiden name so that we can confoirm a record.
Have you considered DNA testing?

Roger, Yes I have done DNA testing through Ancestry and 23&Me.
The children born to Daniel and MaryAnn Moran were a MaryAnn, John, Thomas, Daniel, Johanna, Timothy and Patrick. I am from Patrick's family.
I will check out the site info you sent.
Thank you for your advice, Mimi
