I have done a lot of family research in the USA and tracked my family to Ireland. A birth certificate that I have for one of my ancestors is for James Katon, born 14 April 1843 in Peru, New York. His father's name (as noted on the certificate) is Thomas Katon. The only other information that it has on it is that he is from Ireland and his wife's name is Emma, who he met in New York. I believe that he has two other sons that were born in Ireland and they go by the names Cornelius and Daniel. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

While I can offer no real assistance to you in this quest I would suggest that you should look up the name Keating as an alternative form for Katon. Where I come from in South East Galway Keating was always pronounced phonetically as Katon or Kayton.
