See a James Connor baptised same parish 19th February 1822 to a William Connor and Anne Barron .Address give as Commonbog .

Few adjoining townlands near Gowran called that ( Commons ,Commons North ,Commons South ,Clifden Commons ) .All less than a mile from the village .

Dungarvan is about 3/4 miles from there .

On Griffiths Valuation c. 1850 there is a Honoria Travers renting 12 acres at house 2 in Clover townland  subletting a dwelling to an Edward Connors .Clover townland adjoins the Commons Gowran

Travers name occurs around Gowran /Goresbridge/Dungarven area on Griffiths Valuation .Some Connor on it in Lower Grange Goresbridge ,which is just the other (Goresbridge ) side of Gowran village .

5 Travers families on 1901 census in that general Gowran/Paulstown area of Kilkenny .(DED's of Gowran and Shankill )

  • Many thanks for the information. Yes, that's the correct couple marrying in Gowran. The James OCnnor baptism has "thrown me", as I;mnot sure where he fits in. I will look up Griffiths Valuations. Kind regards, Greg.
