Looking for a family that may have originated from this parish. Immigrants to the United States in 1840s and early 1850s  were John and wife Ann, James, Robert and son John, Thomas and wife Sarah, and an older John all surname Wallace.
Are there Church of Ireland records available for this parish?
Thank you

  • wallacekr,

Artrea Church of Ireland parish has 3 churches (Artrea, Ballyeglish & Woods Chapel.). Artrea's records start in 1811, Ballyeglish in 1868 and Wood’s Chapel in 1807. I don’t think any of those records are on-line. However there are copies in PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast. A personal visit is required to view them.  If you are unable to go yourself, you could employ a researcher. Researchers in the PRONI area: http://sgni.net

Statutory registration of marriages in Ireland started in 1845.  It might be possible to trace some of the marriages you have mentioned if they occurred after 1845 but if they occurred that before that it will be much more difficult. You would need to search parish records.

I found the information you have given slightly confusing. Can you separate the various families and tell us when they were each born/married etc. That might make it a bit easier to advise on what records may exist.
