I am looking for information on Philip Ward (1860?) and Margaret (Crosson) Ward (1862-1890) that lived in Cootehill, Drumaveil, County Cavan. Their daughter (Mary Ann Ward - born 1889 and immigrated in her teens to US). I was able to trace Margaret's sisters to 1911 still in the area (Bridget Crosson & Ellen Crosson Dermott). The Crosson name I've seen with various endings ie: on, an, en, in. I will be visiting the area shortly and would love to know if any distant family members are still in the area. Thank you

Hi,
Drumnaveil is in the Maudabawn area between Shercock and Cootehill. There are still Crossans in the area. Judging by the census there were a number of families. As you are coming shortly the quickest way to see if you can track living families would be to use the phone book. I used eircomphonebook.ie and looked up residential & found one with the spelling Crossan, so you could ring that number and see if they can give you any directions or suggestions. Drumgoon would be the parish, it is a rural area, however they have a grat community spirit and they are very helpful & welcoming. There is a facebook page for Drumgoon Hill Old Graveyard https://www.facebook.com/Drumgoon-Hill-Old-Graveyard-1648727305436507/ you could send them a message and see what they can find for you. You could also contact the local priests and ask them to put a message in the church newsletters, with your contact details. I could not find their email address, but their contact details are as follows:
Very Rev. John Cooney PP VF
Address: Parochial House Station Rd , Cootehill, Co. Cavan
Phone: 0035349 5552163
Rev. Michael Gilsenan SSCC, CC
Address: Parochial House Maudabawn, Cootehill, Co. Cavan
Best of luck with your search.
