Hello,

I am looking for any information on Timothy Ward who married Catherine Kenny daughter of Micheal Kenny and Mary Usher.Their first child John was baptised in Fohenagh in 1861.  Have found information on Kenny's but nothing substantial on Ward side. My grandmother Elizabeth Ward was the second child, born December 1863 but there is no record of her birth. The next son Timothy born Kilmalaw February 11,1866 is recorded in civil record of births in Dublin. There were two more sons born ,Martin and Micheal and then they immigrated to America in 1869-70 and wound up in Chicago. There seem to be Neil, Currily, Mulloon(Mullins?),White and Leonard connections but don't know how closely related. I have endeavored to find more out through Woodfords and the Griffith's Valuation and National Archives but am at a dead end.Just hoping someone recognises these names.Ward is a common name but I am hoping some of these details will help.

Go mile maith agat,

Pat

  • Hello,

It's been awhile and I am still hoping to hear from someone in the Fohenagh/Kilmalaw area on my great grandparents Timothy and Kate (Kenny) Ward. I have researched the Fohenagh Church records where the baptism of my great uncle John Ward (1861) and my grandmother Elizabeth are recorded and have a birth record of my great uncle Timothy Ward from 1866 born Kilmalaw. In the States my grtgrandfather was a tram conductor in Chicago and died of cancer in 1902.His son John Ward married Sarah Mulligan. There were other siblings born in Chicago and buried there. I would like to know Timothy Ward's parentage here in Ireland.I have  found the Kenny side but have come to a brick wall on my Ward side.Thank you in advance for any information.

    Best,

Pat Owen        PS I do have an old photo of my greatgrandfather

  • Hello,
I am still searching for info on my paternal great grandfather Timothy Ward. He was living in Fohenagh in the 1860s until the family immigrated to America. As I stated in the above correspondence I have come to a brick wall. There seems to be no record of his marriage to Catherine Kenny who I know lived just outside of Aughrim with her father and mother Micheal and Mary(Usher) Kenny. That house was subsequently taken by the Coen family and I believe it was a shop.
Timothy was listed as a laborer on his immigration papers of 1870,but no other information is given. There were Wards living in Killure during this time and listed later in the census of 1901 but the thread is broken.
I have been on the NLI parish site and researched all the townlands within this area and have come up zero. He must have been married somewhere close and as they were Catholic it stands to reason there would be a record. Their first son John is recorded as baptised in the church in Fohenagh and later Timothy's birth is recorded in the records in Dublin in 1866, parents residence Fohenagh. I am
    baffled and frustrated.
I have not heard from Ireland XO in a very long time . I am hoping you will be able to come up with something to help.
    Thank you in anticipation ,
