I am researching the family of Jacob Watts and Permillia Hollingsworth. Family tradition holds that Jacob's father was also named Jacob Watts with a birth date of 1755. We don't know if he was the ancestor that came from Ireland or if it was his father (name unknown).
Family tradition has always been that we came from Ireland in the 1700's and landed somewhere in the Carolina's. Considering the time frame we think that our ancestor landed in Charleston South Carolina.
Would love to hear from anyone that might have info on families in Ireland with the Watts surname.

There are many Watts scattered over ireland. Griffiths valuation 1848-1864 lists 126 occurences.
This will indicate which counties and parishes have the most Watts.
You could also try the earlier Tithe Records. There are some issues with some locations wrongly listed as to which county they belong to. These issues hopefully will be resolved sooner rather than later.

Depending upon which county you are searching this site may be useful.
