Found a reference to a will for Thomas Whelan Waterford and Lismore Diocese in an index on FamilySearch. Residence in 1778 was Wicklows Bay, Newfoundland. He was a sailor and fisherman. I contacted the National Archives in Ireland to see if a copy of the will could be located and sadly there was no will to be found, it was most likely destroyed in the Four Courts fire in 1922. I believe this Thomas Whelan married Mary Atkins in 1760 in St. John's, Newfoundland. I am wondering if it's possible to locate a birth record for Thomas in the Waterford and Lismore Diocese. I'm thinking that he was probably born abt 1735. Thomas and Mary had 3 sons that I know of, Thomas, David and John and they were all born in Newfoundland. Can anyone help point me in the right direction to search?
