Hi, July 5-2013
Just found this out that some of my Kennedy families were listed in John Grenham's book "Tracing Your Irish Ancestors", pub 1992. A "Kelly" was kind enough to send me the transcription of the two Kennedy name's who were on the Census Returns and Substitutes, a list starting 1569-1911. It was listed as: 1846 Survey of Households in connection with famine relief, Loughill, Foynes, Shanagolden area, NLI, Ms 582. The extraction from list of families who had been counted in 1846, but unaccounted for by 1852. Only info is what is listed below:
Patrick Kennedy - Ballyknockane is OS30, parish Ballingarry, barony of Connello Upper, AOM 15.
John Kennedy - Cloonty townland, OS18-19, parish Kilmoylan, barony of Shanid, AOM 121.
How can I find out the precise location of these two townlands and of course where would there be any records of these people in Church or Vital Records or Land Records. I had three Kennedy's coming out of that area as the following: John Kennedy b 1828, near Loughill, coming to US April 1846. Brother Patrick b 1829, near Loughill, coming to US Nov 1848. Their sister Catherine b.1826-1832, Loughill?, coming to US in 1846-1848 era. They were 18-21 yrs of age so were married in Illinois with people they had met in the States. Parents COULD have been Patrick (or John) and Johanna. Any clues for me? The Shanagolden records do not seem to have my above people's baptisms. One other family of Kennedy's in Shanagolden records, Honora Kennedy marrying a Reidy and the land was passed on down to the present John Reidy of Ballyhahill. Where else do I look? Thank you for your help, Corrine
