My 4 x Gt Grandfather Ulick Ford left Ireland for America around 1847, he settled in Illinois with his wife Catherine and daughter Mary and son Patrick, but one of his other sons, my 3 x Gt Grandfather Richard Ford settled in Bradford, Yorkshire where he married Ellen O'Donnell, I have both Richard and Ellen on all the english census up till their deaths in 1882 and 1891 and place of birth is always Ireland, would really like to find out where in Ireland they came from, sadly none of the remaining family members know, one thought Mayo another Cork. A distant cousin remembers someone coming over from America from Philadelphia in the 1960s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Quick search of Irish Geneology came across the following record its from 1769 obviously predates your individual but the fact of the first name Ulick which is extremely rare in Ireland might make it worth following up .

Hi
Thank you, I too found this Ulick, when I googled the name, it could be a relative because as you say it is an unusual name.

Thank you MallowCork, for the info, I wonder why Richard Ford didn't go with his father and sister to USA and why he went to Bradford, Yorks? I have checked the census where I can find him from 1861 onwards and looked to see neighbours but havn't found a family link yet.
