My 3rd great grandfather, Patrick Wilkinson immigrated to Montreal in 1822. His parents are listed on his marriage record as Thomas Wilkinson and Elizabeth Collin of Dublin, Ireland. I have had absolutely no luck tracing this couple back to Ireland. On the other side of the family, his wife, Mary Ann Lavry (Lavery) is listed as having come from Cork county, parents given as William Lavry (Lavery) and Mary Gillespie. Hoping these names will ring a bell with someone!

OMG, I think you have found them! And I have been unsure of the name Collin, because the handwriting of the priest was near illegible!!!! Thank you so much! This gives me something to work with! Is there any advice you can offer in going forward?

Yes , my advise would be to check out the free Dublin church records on www.irishgenealogy.ie
take note that older records often have latin names, so Patrick could be Patricius etc, have fun I think you will find a lot more :) If you have no luck there I suggest to post on our Dublin message board that you can find using the ''find my parish'' button on our home page. Same for Cork ( some parishes except North Cork are also covered on irishgenealogy.ie)
