My 3 times great grandfather William Allen a saddler, lived in Burt Toulett. His marriage is on the Burt records, 1878.in the Catholic records. No parents show up. There was a Paul Allen another saddler died in Toulett in 1872, a John Dobbins (catholic) is only present at his death.
There is an Eleanor Allen who has died in 1877, a William Allen is present but does not state if he is the son. I am guessing he is as Paul Allen is also a Saddler. When I type in Allens on the census in Burt there are no Catholic Allens. I know that William Allen shows up as Catholic as he married one but he died in 1890 and I can't confirm if he was born catholic..
In 1901 a Samuel Allen is living in Carrowreagh and is a protestant. When William Allen married Ellen Collins they lived in Carrowreagh. Would anyone be able help?

Hi Niall,
Just to recap, you have
William Allen, married in Burt parish 1878 in a Catholic church. Is his wife Ellen Collins?
Can you give the exact date and place of the marriage? names of witnesses?
The names of their children, in order?
Did you see the civil marriage record yet? You should be able to find it at irishgenealogy.ie.
This info would be helpful.
Thanks.

I believe Eleanor Allen is living in Carrowreagh. In the 1901 census Dobbins also live in Carrowreagh. I believe that Willam Dobbins is the cousin to William Allen. I think Eleanor was Dobbins, however i have no more information for Paul Allen other than livin in Burt in 1858.
I just don't know why there are only protestant Allens living in Burt in 1901. Would Paul Allen had been a catholic?
