Thanks to dna I know I am related to a William D Kelly born circa 1831-1836 somewhere in Galway.  He arrived in the US in 1847 according to some of his records and married Bridget Hushen. They lived in Conschoken, Penmsylvania. He died in 1910.  I am trying to work out where in Galway he came from as I can't find a shipping record for him. I suspect he may have come from around Ahascragh area.I would love to hear from anyone who is related to him or knows of him.

Did William die in Pennsylvania? If, Ancestry.com should have his death record which in many cases does show the names of the parents of the deceased.

Ahascragh RC baptismal records start in 1840.

There are many William Kelly baptismal records in Co. Galway so his parents names are necessary to confirm a record. Many parishes like Ahascragh do not have records back to 1831-1836.

FYI- The town is Conshohocken which is just outside of Philadelphia.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conshohocken,_Pennsylvania

  • Marks Family,

Not sure if this helps. There are 36 trees on Ancestry and a lot of records concerning William D. Kelly. The death certificate posted does not have his parents' names. Several of the trees suggest he was born in Galway 6 March 1831 to John Kelly and Cecily Griffin, I did not find a record on RootsIreland. They suggest his father John died in GortnashingaunGlann, Galway.

  • Thanks for all the information everyone.

Sadly his death certificate has no information on his parents. The year of his birth varies throughout his life, even though on many occasions it was William providing the information himself.

I can find no evidence to date of his parents being John Kelly and Cecily Griffin other than on some people's trees with no evidence to back it up.

    Thank you everyone for trying.

    Regards

    Andrea
