William Nolan's kids came over to the USA in 1860
I'm not sure if William and Mary ever left Ireland.
his son William Nolan came into NY and was married there. and eventually settled in Norwich,CT
I believe his son John also arrived in NY moved to Stamford,CT and then to Franklin CT
his son Keiran worked in worked in ohio
John Nolan and Keiran both worked for the railroad.

the only place the Nolans gave that they were from was a Free state Ireland

It is very difficult given how common the Nolan name is in the 19th Century to say where this family may have been born. There are too many baptism possibilities to give you any useful progress updates. You could have a look at familysearch.org or rootsireland.ie (a subscription site) to see what they are - perhaps sponsors' names on a baptism will mean something to you. I even tries searching for a baptism for Kieran/Ciaran (an uncommon name for the most part) but could find nothing. It may be the case that the children where born in a parish and at a time that predates parish records.
