Mullingar which means left handed mill. The counties of Meath and Westmeath Act made westmeath a nominated county. Mullingar was a very important town of Westmeath as it was a administrative centre and still is to its present day. It had a lot to do with cattle trading from the farmers in the community but that stopped in the year 2003. It exports items known as pewter ware which is produced from the company pewter which is close to the town. People in the midlands say its the most populated town around the locality and that was recorded in 2006. Its also a commuter town. Its even got's its own newspaper called the 'Mullingar Advertiser'. And it is sold in Athlone and Tullamore.
