My ancestors lived in the Portrush area of Northern Ireland.  Their surnames were Connor or Conner, Watton and Sinclair.

In the 1901 irish census my ggrandfather was listed as

Conner, John in Portrush Rural Urbalreagh with wife Conner, Esther Mary

children

Maggie, Lizzie,  William I (this should be J. for James) , Finaly, David, Esther

However we always knew the surname as Connor.

It seems that John died sometime around 1905 in Ireland.

In 1911 census Esther had remarried to a man by the name of William J. Watton

She is incorrectly listed as Easter Mary Watton living in Ballycraig, lower (Portrush Rural, Antrim)

children Watton, James

Connor, William J

Connor, Finly

Connor, David

Connor, Elizabeth

Connor, Sarah Florence

The daughter Esther seems to be living at another address for work. Maggie is a mystery.

My ggrandmother Esther was originally a Sinclair and her middle name may have been May or Mae not Mary.  Finley, David, William  and the daughter Esther all immigrated to Canada.

I would be interested in any information or  contact with living relatives.

The civil indexes list: William John Connor married Ester Mary Sinclair, Coleraine 1887 Volume 1, page 501. His father’s name was William. Hers was Finlay. If you get a copy of the certificate it may clarify he rmiddle name.

Possible death for John Connor is William John Connor, Ballymoney Jan – Mar 1905, Vol 1, page 113. Est year of birth 1868.

Esther Mary Connor’s marriage to William John Watton in Ballymoney, Oct – Dec 1905 Volume 1, page 161.
