Im trying to connect with my mothers side of the family...of which I'm VERY proud of ....If i have entered anything wrong here or been disrespectful..please forgive me as I'm just learning.....My great great Grandfather //Thomas Bailey was apparently born in Antrim Ulster Ireland in 1833 but thats all I know....any and all help would be greatly appreciated

    Bailey is quite a common name,. There were 145 people of that name in Co Antrim in the 1901 census. 1833 is before the start of statutory registration and so you won?t find a birth certificate for him. You might find a baptism but to do that you would need to know his exact religious denomination and roughly where in Co Antrim he came from.

     

    When did he leave Ireland?

    Did he marry before leaving? If so, do you have his wife?s details? Have you searched all records outside Ireland for clues as to where he came from and also his parents names? Usual sources are censuses, marriage and death certs, military records, wills, gravestones and obituaries.
