  • Dear James

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out! I have passed yor query to a Gort volunteer.

    In the meantime:

Terence, Susan and their young son Thomas Joseph are mentioned on the 1901 Census:
    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Toome_Upper/Too…

In 1911 they are in Charlotte Street:
    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Antrim/Ballymoney/Char…

Familysearch.org list a Terence Brady born on 16th May 1871 to a father Thomas Brady and a mother Johanna Fitzgerald. Other children born to this couple are James, 1869 and Edward, 1874 - brothers of Terence, assuming this information is correct and the parents' names are accurate. There are a couple of Susan McGettigan entries on family search born in 1877 but it would be difficult to say which is the correct one.

    Best wishes

  • Thanks for that

Is there any way of looking further forward.

I know that Terence took his Pention in 1921 from Ballymoney RIC Barracks

I was wondering if there is any way of finding out about his children - marrige dates children etc?

  • Dear James
You can use familysearch or ancestry.com to check for the details of the children too. As you know the parents' names it will be easier to check/research.

The following site is also very good and will give you pointers about further research and original sources on the RIC:
    http://www.royalirishconstabulary.com/

Jim Herlihy has also written a number of books about the RIC, if you google him you will find him easily.

  • James....sorry this is a tad off your topic, but I am curious as to whether you are related to the Irish Barbers - Nathaniel & Elizabeth (DOB 1785/87) and children including James (1817).  I have been searching for their irish home for over 30 years now.  They came to Canada about 1835 and settled near Owen Sound, Ontario.  Thanks for listening
