McBride family from Ballymoney, Antrim.
I am looking for information on the family of Samuel McBride and Mary Jane Speers in the mid to late 1800's in Ballymoney, Antrim. Children John, Mary Jane, William and Daniel emigrated to the U.S. around 1850. John and Mary Jane settled in Nebraska, William settled in Minnesota. Daniel settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The parents and children Samuel and Andrew remained in Ballymoney. The famiy was Roman Catholic.

Ballymoney RC parish records don’t start till 1853 so unfortunately you won’t be able to confirm the baptisms and parents marriage etc from that source.
I looked in George Millar’s census of Ballymoney town 1810-1814 and at the Rev Park’s census of the parish in 1817 and there’s no sign of Samuel and his family in either. There are some McBride families but not this one.
I also looked at the Rev William McCartan’s accounts for raising money for a new church in Ballymoney (1881) but again saw no sign of your family in the parish.
Griffiths Valuation for 1861 has just one Samuel McBride listed in Ballymoney parish. He lived in Roddenfoot St, in the town, and had plot 24 which was a house and garden. Next door in plot 23 was a William McBride, whom you might expect to be related.

You can see how long each lived at that address using the revaluation records:

There was an Ellen McBride (widow) living in Roddenfoot St in the 1901 census. She might be connected:
I see a few Samuel McBride deaths that you might want to look at. All registered in Ballymoney. One died 20.2.1876 aged 30. Another 4.10.1874 aged 50 and the last died Jan – Mar 1899 aged 76. You can view the original certificates on-line on the GRONI website, using the “search registrations” option:
You will need to open an account and buy some credits. It costs £2 (sterling) to a view a certificate.
I can’t find the last one on the GRONI site, so if you want it you’ll need to order it from GRO Roscommon which also has these records. You can order a photocopy of the certificate from GRO Roscommon for €4 (euros). http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx
You have to download and print off the form. Then either post or fax it back to them. You can’t e-mail it to them. However if you want them to e-mail the cert to back to you, they will do that, so tick the relevant box.
Put the reference details on the form (anywhere). Don’t worry about leaving some boxes blank. As long as GRO have the location, name(s), year, quarter (where there is one), volume and page number they should find it.

I am still hoping to be in touch with someone with information on the McBride family (Roman Catholic) from Ballymoney. If anyone has a connection to the McBrides I would appreciate hearing from them
