Seeking information on William Irwin, b. 1725, d. 1772 in Carrickfergus. He married Isabella Feirs (parents unknown) who came to America in 1801 with her children. Would love to know who William's parents were and where he is buried. Also, was there a Quaker presence in Carrickfergus at that time? One of his son's was a Quaker in Pennsylvania by 1790, but another son became a Methodist minister in the 1800's so I don't know if William and Isabella were Quakers or if the one son attached thimself to the Friends after immigration.

Hi Julie, thanks for your mesage and interest in Ireland Reaching Out.
Unfortunatley, the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marriages/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 ? particularly in rural areas ? is that they simply may not exist.
The best course of action may be to contact the Ulster Historical Foundation. Their contact details are as follows:

Northern Ireland

Hello. I too am interested in finding the parents and grandparents of William B Irwin born 1725 or 1728 in Carrickfergus who married Isabella Feirs.
I was hoping to find out if you were able to find this out and any other information that you have from this family genealogy. Is William B Irwin a relative of Robert Irvine born 1620 married to Margaret Wylie in 1691 in Ulster.
I am a relative of William B Irvwin. Are you as well?
Thank you much,
Roberta Blowers
