I am pleased to be the first to post a message about one of the oldest and proudest Parishes in the Diocese of Down and Connor.

Our little Church of St. Patrick on the Barnfield Road is said to be the mother church of all Belfast Catholic churches. We have the more modern and much larger church of St. Colman (located on the A1 at Lambeg) as the main church in our Parish.

St Patrick's was renovated in 2009 and rededicated by Bishop Noel Traynor on the 6th Dcember 2009 and celebrates the Eucharist each Sunday at 11am. The renovation of our church would never have been completed if it was not for the selfless determination of our Parish Priest at the time, Fr. Fergal McGrady PP.

My own family is one of the earliest family names associated with Derriaghy and have a long and proud association with this parish.

Please note the earlier spelling of Derraghy now spelled Derriaghy.
