I have posted a similar message on the general page for County Down because this parish page seems inactive. I am looking for any information on my great, great grandfathers, Matthew Long and William Petticrew. Matthew (1804-1879) emigrated to the U.S. with his wife Sarah (?) in 1863. Two sons, Matthew and Andrew, followed them to the U.S. with their respective families. I would like to know Sarah's maiden name and if they had other children.
Andrew, my great grandfather, married Eliza(beth) Petticrew on March 20, 1860. At that time, they both listed their parish as being Drumbeg. Andrew's address is listed as being Ballymacbrennan and Eliza's as being Drennan. Therefore, I would presume that William Petticrew also lived in Drennan at that time. His wife was Mary Ann Murphy and her father, William, a physician according to family lore.
My grandmother, Susanna, was born April 20, 1872, probably in Magheraknock. Andrew and his family emigrated to the U.S. in 1873. He joined his father and brother to work as a weaver in the Connecticut mills.
Any additional information about my great, great grandparents and their forebears would be much appreciated.
