I am searching for the family of Francis J. Hanna, b. 1 Nov 1831 and emigrated to America with his parents in @1834. His mother was Elizabeth UNKOWN and I believe his father was James. All died in Pennsylvania. Both parents died in Philadelphia and Francis in 1889 in Venango County, western Pennsylvania.
According to DNA, I am confident that this is where the family was from prior to emigration. I have been unable to connect the dots or find Francis' baptism. The family record that is the source of my knowledge was written the year after Francis died and I have been unable to prove any particulars of the story.
Can anyone help?
Blessings adn Thank you for reading my story,

There is a baptism in 1833 for a Francis Henry Hanna in Co Down Ireland. This is available to view on www.rootsireland.ie (a Pay site)

The family was staunchly Presbyterian in America. I would guess Church of Ireland. Family tradition says the Family was Scots prior to coming to Ireland.

I have seen that baptism listed in the past but there are enough difference that I do not think this is the right Francis. Thank you for the encouragement.

Don, have you checked on the Tithe Applotment records & Griffith Valuation records on www.nationalarchives.ie Also has Census records which may be of help to you. The Parish registers for ireland are due online from the National Library of Ireland in July but I am not sure if they will cover all denominations & all counties.
Another site which is a work in progress is www.historicgraves.ie may have some Hanna transcriptions.

Don,
If the family were Presbyterian in America and family tradition is that they originated in Scotland, then I?d expect them to be Presbyterian in Ireland too.
You have put this query under the parish of Drummaul. Was that intentional? Do you have information indicating they may have come from there? (Drummaul, in 1831, included the towns of Randalstown and Antrim plus much nearby rural, agricultural land. There are probably 15 Presbyterian churches in that parish).
The parish registers that are going on-line in July are RC records only, so if your family are of another denomination then unfortunately, they won?t help.
The surname Hanna is very common in Co Antrim (there?s over 1200 of them in the county in the 1901 census) so that does make searching for your family quite hard going.
