Thank you for your very interesting webpages.

I am looking for a very kind person who might be able to photograph the gravestones of Rev Edward Kirby died Randalstown died 1859, buried COI Drummaul, the first Curate of Ballyscullion, his wife Emily (nee Henchy) died 1905 buried COI Drummaul, her two sisters (possible names Anne, Eliza, Rose) also buried Drummaul. Burials at Drummaul according to Ballyscullion history http://www.drummaul-duneane-ballyscullion.com/#!ballyscullion-history/c…

Am very happy to provide more genealogy of the Kirby and Henchy families for anyone interested. Though I would love to visit Randalstown myself and photograph the gravestones myself, it is very far from my home.

  • Jenni,

I live in Randalstown, so I can get the photos for you in the next day or so. In the meantime I have attached a photo of Ballyscullion church which I originally took for someone else.

  • Dear Elwyn

Thank you so very much. No rush. They've been dead a long time :-)

Thank you too for the church picture. This is Drummaul Church? This is still a COI church? At Church Road Randalstown. Just confirming for my records.

    Best wishes and many thanks

  • Jenni,

The picture I sent was of Ballyscullion church, in the parish of Ballyscullion, where your ancestor was curate. So that?s not the same church as where he is buried.

I have now attached a photo of the grave (all the people you named are in the one grave), plus one of the church itself (So that?s Randalstown Church of Ireland, in the parish of Drummaul. As you say it?s in Church Rd, Randalstown). You should be able to see the grave, set in the grass, in front of the church. Both churches are still in use, though Ballyscullion being a small rural parish now only has fortnightly services. The same Vicar covers both parishes (Rev Derek Kerr). He lives in Randalstown.

Unfortunately Ballyscullion only has baptism, marriage & burial records from about 1880, so the church doesn?t have any with your ancestors signature.

I have added a couple of other pictures of Randalstown to give you flavour. It won an award for best kept villages last year. The oval shaped church is the OC Presbyterian church which is across the road from the Church of Ireland. (You can just see its spire in the background). There?s also a couple of views of the main street and the entrance to Shane?s Castle (Lord O?Neill?s family home).

  • jDear  Elwyn

So very kind of you! Thank you, thank you. What a lovely message to wake up to. Is modern technology not wonderful?

Thanks for the additional pictures of Randalstown. It is good to get a picture of the place. I read the history of the parishes listed on the church website. Very interesting.

Let me know if I can help trace your Irish relatives who went (or were sent) to Australia.

    Best wishes
